After I get sick I just get sad.
Comment:
For the hell of it, while home for the better part of this week with a nasty cold/near-flu. Title from the pen of Craig Finn. Thanks to Peter for the Arctic Monkeys track, to Mark P. for the Zevon track (I may actually have to buy Warren's first album now), and to Melanie for inspiring (in one way or another) several of these selections. (FYI: This mix was revised extensively--and thus dramatically improved by cutting out Babybird, Pulp and the Instances and replacing them with the Minutemen, Yes, the Brian Jonestown Massacre and Minor Threat on 5/21/06.)Feedback:
This ought to cure what ails you.
"nasty cold/near-flu". Hey, I have a friend that lives there. This is a chirpy mix that should really help clear the nasal passages. Yes it's the new cure for neuralgia and head colds. I feel better already. Cheers.
not a bad song in sight
Nice work Rob. You must have felt better after this.
nice Mr C., feel better.
Some great tracks on here Rob. Love the Belle & Seb track and 19-21 are wonderful.
Fine! And Zevon's "Carmalita" brings tears of joy to my eyes. Nails the junkie experience without rancor or sentimentality!
The DBT's to The Meter via Zevon...brilliant!!!
Nice mix Rob, love track 4 & the Arctic Monkeys track is good too but I'm not sure bout all the hype. I've had a pre release copy of their album with alternate takes of each song for some time now but never got round to playing it start to finish, cos I lose interest in it pretty quickly.
The juxtaposition of tracks 3 and 4 make me wonder what a collaboration between Andre 3000 and Stuart Murdoch would sound like. (We all know what would happen if Bessie Smith and the Arctic Monkeys were in the same studio). Lovely mix.
Really great stuff, Rob. Love that new Belle & Sebastian album and agreed with gnomie on that Truckers->Zevon->Meters segment.
Is that #7 a Leonard Cohen cover?Get well soon, dude.
Zevons first albums kicks Rock. I highly recomend it. very nice work here.
thats Rob not rocks...lol
Good medicine here. Especially enjoying #8.
"Kicks rock" is a great phrase.
Nice, Rob. Hope you are feeling better. To me, it seems like between 11 and 12 is a nice time to take our medicine. Yet, 21 suggests more agreeable medication.
Cool stuff, love the Talking Heads, XTC and Jam picks.
Up to your usual high standards Rob, especially good to see Zevon and the Beat. I can recommend Irish whisky and echinacea to get you back on your feet. PS Got a mix for you but lost your address. Mail me.
Great selections.
outkast into b&s?! you crazy, man! but anyway, i'd listen to this if only to rock out to the jam, pulp, xtc, and the arctic monkeys.
I saw this mix...and I thought I had commented on it...evidently my brain has taken leave of my head. Still, that aside, well done - this looks great! You can never, ever go wrong with Making Plans For Nigel, and nice choice with the Dream Syndicate too. Oh yeah, and I love the OutKast pick - great all round! Hope you feel better soon too :)
the title Metal in your mouth has set my teeth on edge. Hope the sadness passes...love The Diamond!
Wonderful Rob. Needs more Sting though;-)
Hope you're beeter. This is a fun little mix.
Great stuff. But you can cram The Police in your ass (I say that in the most respectful and friendly way possible, without using a smiley).
Cool - even w/o Sting.
Ooooo -- sounds good! But I hope you're not strung out on heroin in the outskirts of town.... Would you please make me one o'these???
Good collection of memories on this one. Thanks!
