Comment:

this mix is for my daddy. i went away to college (a whole 5 miles!!) and i still don't see him enough. it makes me sad. so i decided to make him a mix so he can stay in touch with what's going on with me. rammstein wouldn't fit, but i wanted it to go on there. 14 year old rach LOVED rammstein, and convinced daddy to take her to a concert...and then dad ended up loving rammstein. ha!!

and without further ado, song notes.

1. for all you hockey fans, my dad's favorite movie is slapshot. he has this great shirt with the hanson triplets on it that says "THEY'VE BEEN LOCKED UP BUT NEVER LOCKED OUT." on father's day a few years ago, i bought him a slapshot poster and taped it to his door with hockey tape. it's framed on his wall now. for his birthday this year, i bought him a bobby hull and...oh crap, i forgot who his dad is...brett? i don't remember. anyway, bobby hull is the reason why my dad started playing hockey. i found a bobby hull decorative plate that was signed. he started crying when i gave it to him. it was so hard not to tell him what it was. what a tangent. anyway, this is the song from slapshot.

11. the moody blues are his favorite band ever, since he first heard "tuesday afternoon" in 1967.

14. dad loves the sparks. he went to high school with them, but didn't know them. kind of like how i went to school with this kid named griffin jerome who will probably end up indie famous but we can't stand each other.

15. my dad took my sister and i to see the white stripes in 2003. i was wearing a black shirt and burgundy pants, black shoes, and white socks. we were about to leave and my dad said "YOU CAN'T WEAR WHITE SOCKS WITH THAT!!! go get a pair of my black socks." i complied, and jack white was wearing a red shirt, jeans that had one black leg and one red leg, black shoes, and white socks. i told my dad if jack white could do it, i could too. i still give him shit about that.

i hope dad likes this. i bet he will. i'm off to go give it to him!

What a cool dad, if he really likes all this music. This is one of those mixes where the bands seem to go together so well, if for no other reason than because they're all superstar talents and it's fun to see all-star lineups. Like Green Day and Iron & Wine on one mix? Crazy. Or pairing Sparks, Warren Zevon, White Stripes, Moldy Peaches, Rolling Stones, and The Clash? That's just too much goodness!

An excellent "starving for me gravy" mix. It's rockahula time for Dads everywhere. He'll love it. I know I do.White socks -- black socks -- red socks -- it doesn't matter. Put your cat clothes on and dance.

The moody blues are my mum's favourite band ever also. Well, apart from the Beatles, but I think that's agiven right? Sometimes parents know best! This mix is great by the way. You're too cool for school. Oh, and I love your name, oh & I'm a bit tipsy...
