Comment:

Just kidding - I never had any indie cred. But I never know how to theme mixes that include more mainstream music like the first 5 tracks on this one, which are all culled from 93.3, the fashionable MTV-sponsored radio station in San Diego that plays mostly repulsive rap, hip hop, dance, and bland boy band pop, but which also infrequently offers enjoyable fare like these. Are these songs better than that other stuff? No, not really, but they appeal to me more.

This is basically the more rocking doppleganger of my previous mix, which featured many of the same artists (sorry). Whenever all the current music I'm listening to starts to pile up real high, I tend to uncreatively separate them into loud, energetic rock and more mellow, pretty, sometimes sad pop. Because I don't know how else to mold them into a couple unified mixes. I suck...but the music doesn't! Please don't blame the music

Oy...no, I don't mean that the genres of rap and hip hop are by nature bad (although I'll admit I'm not a big fan of either anymore; maybe 10 years ago, but the newer stuff bugs me, alas), only that the ones played by this radio station are. Although to be fair, I think they play most all mainstream rap, and boy is it bad...sorry. Apples 'n' oranges, y'know. Plenty of people hate the music I listen to, so...yeah.

What the hell is "Indie cred."? A mix, presumably contains songs that the mixer "likes" or at least thinks go well together. The mixer should not be concerned about the musical narro-mindedness of others. The mix is presented in a spirit of generosity -- if affirmation follows, well that's fine. Conversely, if condemnation is the result -- so be it. I am assuming that we "like" what we "like", because we "like" it. Surely, it's that simple. There's lots of good stuff to enjoy on this mix. So, if I were able to listen to it, I'm fairly sure I would enjoy it. Ahem!

my dad listened to it and danced around to it. then when "mother's little helper" came on, he started dancing and singing along in his best mick jagger impression. he's a big dude. he's got all sorts of muscle from playing hockey, so imagine a 6' 200 lb guy dancing around and singing "daddy's little helper"

my dad is a hilarious dude.

and this mix is fantastic. i love the guns n roses, ramones, against me!, and live picks

My friend says "Don't fight the Paramore. Let it tower over you." I tried to fight the Paramore.
