Comment:
I've long been of the opinion that had "Their Satanic Majersties" been released under any name other than The Rolling Stones, it'd be acknowleged as a Summer of Love masterpiece. But it wasn't and is now generally regarded as at best an interesting curio, at worst, an indellible stain on the discography of "the world's greatest rock'n'roll band".So in an attempt to set the record straight, here it is in context, bracketed by other examples of the Stones' acid fuelled whimsy. A pretty persuasive argument for the band's psychedelic credentials, I think.
Feedback:
I love this era of stones music. And love the Satanic album-Good job
Well ya know you can't always get what you want.
no fair, u cant lose with the stones!
A good shot in the arm straightens it out again.
While I have long considered Satanic Majesties to be one of the great missteps of the rock era, it's also an album I pull off the shelves from time to time and thoroughly enjoy. Perhaps one of the finer guilty pleasures around. In hindsight, I really enjoy the stray psychedelic stones track, particularly "2000 Light Years," "Rainbow," "We Love You," "Dandelion," and "Child of the Moon." I'd add "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby..." to that list for its great, trippy guitar sound.
Tied with Beggar's Banquet in my opinion.
