Comment:

Pretty much all the Soft Boys you could ever want, and then some. This was Robyn Hitchcock's original twisted pop band circa '77-'81, before embarking on a successful (sort of, at least by indie standards) solo career. I had a single-cd mix of their finest work awhile back, but wanted to update it to include a few tracks from their 2002 "reunion" disc (though as Rob Conroy noted on his own Soft Boys mix, the reunion disc sounded pretty much like any other Hitchcock disc from the past 20 years, which isn't surprising since the Soft Boys rhythm section backed him on a lot of those, but, still, the band was back together and I'm all for having an exhaustive mix). Of course, I couldn't think of anything I'd cut from my original mix to accommodate the newer stuff, so I just went all out and made it a 2-cd collection. Yes, this meant including most of 1980's superb Underwater Moonlight, but it's a pretty great album; and also had room for a lot more of Robyn's quirky covers (lots of Syd Barrett, of course, but also the VU, Roxy Music, Dylan, Lennon, etc.). If you haven't discovered the 'Boys yet, you should at minimum pick up a copy of Underwater Moonlight and take it from there.

Thanks for posting this, So far I like as much or more than most of the solo stuff I have.

Fantastic. Like you said, compiling Soft Boys stuff definitely calls for something exhaustive, and you've made great choices. Well done.

I Wanna Destroy You would just have to be in my all time top 100 songs of all time.

This is unbelievably expansive. Impressive!
