So, I worked on this one for about eight years. These songs all fill me with a sense of hope and wonder, the closest this atheist has had to a religious experience. It has to be something musical, because a few of these songs are depressing, lyrically. Another explanation: if I were making and starring in a movie, these are the songs that would be playing at the end, when my character, having overcome some sort of adversity, was triumphantly sitting on top of the back seat of a convertible with her arms in the air, being driven off into the sunset, followed by a fade to credits. And since that's too long to try to put on a CD cover, I just called it *, like I did in 97-98, when I started working on the mix.
