Old Friends and Other Strangers (Volume Seven)
Comment:
The Doug Kershaw and Gibson & Camp tracks were among the first songs I learned to love from the old vinyl collections that inspired this series. I never thought I'd put a John Mellencamp song on one of my mixes, but his version of "Old 97" is credible and affecting.
Feedback:
I listened to this today and it's terrific. Some of these songs I haven't heard in years (like "Starving to Death on My Government Claim") but they are old friends and it's great to hear them again. There's also some that were strangers but that are becoming new friends.
Nice one. Liking this a lot.
Hey, how come Mo Twang! was able to listen to this? I'm miffed. Because this mix has grabbed me by the throat of curiosity. The track list is riddled, riddled I tell you, with intriguing names and titles. Some known to me, some not. I feel the urge to git some learnin'. Can ya help me out?p.s. Brilliant cover art - just about captures the whole essence of the piece.
Lots to love on this
What I know I really like, lots to investigate.
:( No link.
Wonderful, another volume in this great series.
MoTW. Period.
Much of this is unfamiliar territory to me but judging by the comments of the other guys looks like another good un Mark.
same old sweet stuff again
Really fantastic. I love the majority of this stuff, and that 21 -> end stretch is just great. Like Nomates, I love the cover art too!
Great stuff. An excellent series.
Another fine installment.
This is nice to see. The Mellencamp gives it a fun spin. Check the new Janis Ian song "Folk is the New Black."
Wonderful.
And - it's another out-of-the-park Homer in a now-legendary series -
please tell me you have some spare time on your hands for trading????
