Comment:

Seems like sooner or later, most everyone records their tribute/successor to Bob Dylan's revolutionary song, "Subterranean Homesick Blues". Most of these songs follow right along the garden path stamped out, seeded and flowered by that song, and sometimes the scent is strong enough that one of SHB's characteristic features can even be eliminated: rapping as rock singing ("I'm The Ocean"), steady rhythmic verses ("Neurotica"), full-on nonsense lyrics ("Seen Enough"), or veiled commentary on the oppressive state of society ("King's Lead Hat"). In general, though, these songs fit these four attributes remarkably well. "Seen Enough" and "Blues in Bob Minor" are, of course, explicit SHB tributes, and Sizzla covers the song directly as a reggae song. As for "Foot Of Pride", that great lost Bootleg Series track notably covered live by Lou Reed, I think it has all the hallmarks of being the successor to "Subterranean Homesick Blues", 18 years on; possibly this song has Dylan's best lyrics on the page of any of his songs. And unlike Reed, Bob's not reading them off a Teleprompter, either. (Don't worry Lou: "Murder Mystery" is enough of a tribute, thanks muchly.)

"Seems like sooner or later, most everyone records their tribute/successor to Bob Dylan's revolutionary song" - That may well be, but this is the first one I've found here on AOTM. And "look out kid..." it's a doozy. A most worthy tribute. Excellent choices all round. I particularly like the second half, if you catch my drift. As I often find myself saying, I'd love to hear it. A hearty well done to you. Oh yes, "You don't need a Weatherman to know which way the wind blows"; but we all need Bob to point us in the right direction.

Look out kid
It's somethin' you did
God knows when
But you're doin' it again!

A very intriguing assortment here, & it looks like it would be good listening.
