Inspired by Little Spencer Boy's Recent Effort `More Cowbells!' After seeing it I thought about throwing together a mix highlighting that other great unsung instrument in pop `The Handclaps'. I must confess I was halfway through compiling this before checking to see if this had been done on AOTM before, alas it had a couple of times but by this point I was too involved! My shortlist of possible tracks soon become a very long list and after a lot of painful omissions I realised a Volume 2 must follow. Watch this space!

Very cool. I saw Jimmie Vaughan play a couple of years ago and he had two guys with him who mostly just did hand claps. They were great.

I've always been a fan of songs with handclaps, so I'm a fan of this mix. Volume 2 suggestions? Beck's "Clap Hands," Junior Senior's "We R the Handclaps" and "Clap and Shout" by Shag (fresh on my mind because I recently put it on a mix)
