Comment:
this mix is designed for the next bbq in yer backyard, with springtime as the theme. side a is mostly all party, upbeat stuff- sunny psychedelica, afrobeat, obscure funk and reggae cuts, tropicalia, soul, late disco/early hip-hop, and indie rock w/ a horn section." runtime 49:18.side b gets a little darker. i split the sea and cake members in half, with sam prekop closing side a with soft horns and archer prewitt opening side b with lines like "now that nightfall is closing in." a few female folk acts ease into beat hapening's "our secret," which is in my mind one of the best spring/summertime tracks (young love, running away, etc.) some atmospheric, droney tracks give way to the jem finer sampled-voice track and the jackie-o motherfucker traditional recording, both named "rockaway." then it's a thick slab of acoustic fahey to push us into the night, followed by the brief patty waters piano springtime ditty found on her rare cuts compilation. running time: 49:55.

Excellent!
