I'm an English teacher, and one of my favorite things to do with the kids is make mix CD's of songs they choose. For this one, we read Maya Angelou's "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" and compared her loneliness to the loneliness we hear about in our favorite music. So, they all picked a song and wrote a comparison essay, and these is the collection of their songs. You can see how diverse they are -- rock, rap, r&b, mexican rock, gangster cholo soul...its beautiful, but such a depressing CD :)
