Comment:

This is for a young chap I met recently.

We've agreed to swap tapes and spent ages on the phone discussing the various rules associated with making a mix, the most complicated of which is that you shouldn't put a track on a compilation if it was inherrited from a compilation someone made for you, or if you've used it on a compilation for someone else.

This makes perfect sense 'cause you both get a tape consisting entirely of songs that are specifically picked for you, rather than around a general theme of 'aah, I like your face' which could be directed at anyone. But it's also been a pain coming up with 90 minutes of 'original' material and still trying to look half-way cool. To my eternal credit, this tape does not featue Meatloaf's 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light', even though it does take 8 minutes 21 seconds.

Ah thank you! Yes, no using the same song on more than one comp! Another is not using the same artist twice. But I feel fine pilfering tracks from comps made for others.

Using the same artist twice should be regarded as pure cheating unless it's a 'best of' mix.
I'm generally loathe to put two tracks on by people who've even been in a band together (although I always make an exception for Kenickie and Rosita, being as the two songs featured on this tape are my staple 'under two minute' fillers)!
