Comment:
Finally got around to updating my tribute to one of the greatest vocalists of the rock era. I tried to focus more on his poppier, more upbeat tracks, omitting some real beauties, but obviously had to include "Perfect Day" and his cover of Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers To Cross," two truly heart-wrenching ballads. Harry burned out too young, too fast, but left a wealth of wonderful music.
Feedback:
Very nice tribute.
Great comp of a great voice. "Nilsson Schmilsson" was one of the albums that turned me into a music freak and "The Point" brings back some really fond memories.
I believe your notes say it all. Excellence abounds.
Lovely. I've got one of these ("Left out in the rain the day after Santa came") from '02 and it's still one of my absolute favorite single-artist mixes that I've compiled. Lemme know what you think...
Love Harry, and you have some of my faves here. Very nice. Did you know that Michael Nesmith did a version of Rainmaker?
Hip hip Harry! "Nilsson Schmilsson" was also one of my first pop music albums, and that song about the lime and the coconut (missing here, I see) was one of my favorites at the time. Hope this mix can be part of a trade someday.
Alas, I never cared much for "Coconut," though I realize it's a popular favorite of his.
this is excellent... mr. nilsson would be proud!
Excellent job, although I believe that "Poli High" would be absolutely necessary.
This looks absolutely wonderful. I love Harry Nilsson but, shamefully, don't own that much by him. You've made really nice choices here and some of my favourites too. Well done!
I'm actually in the process of cross stitching the cover from the Point. I hope it comes out looking good. . . like this mix!
I'm ashamed to say that I don't know as much as I should. This seems to hit the spot though . . . .
Can't LIIIVVVEEE!
You've hit most of my faves. The first two albums get loads of spins here, and as a kid "Me and My Arrow" was the coolest song ever.
Really great tribute to one of my favorite artists!!
he was fantastic. which version of Daddy's song.. the one with all the falsettos or.. er.. the one on aerial ballet? argh, what a gorgeous song. er,.. and speaking of monkees again, micky dolenz did "daybreak" at some point.
