Comment:
For the hell of it. And reasonably quick, to boot, while being kind of an extension of my last few mixed-genre concoctions. Thanks to the following people for contributing songs to this mix: SwankQueen (#3), lo-fi jr (#6) and Vinz Clortho (#10). Title from the mighty Huskers opener.Feedback:
That update should be good to go now Rob, I had some probs myself. Killer mix as usual. Love the opening pairing, and the 'Heads - Beatles go together like peaches and cream too.
I'm liking the look of this one from you Rob. Opening with that Husker track sets the rest of the tone for this mix.
Your opening pair sure fires up my synapses then it's a weird & wonderful ride to the end. I'm not a big fan of the Heads' later stuff, but I believe anyone who had a child in the last twenty years will eventually find themselves singing that tune.
1,10,11 &14 do it for me Rob.
I,ve had a bit of an Rob Conroy mix day. I'll email you my thoughts tomorrow as it's late here in the UK. Suffice to say I was bowled over.. I'm sure this mix would be no different. Good work.
Several of these tracks are among my favorites. Love the Husker Du and Beefheart especially.
Yeah, have to agree the opening 4 song salvo really sets a great tone for this mix. Looks superb!
indeed, the husker superchunk 1 2 is a virtually guaranteed KO. also diggin 12-14 and the minutemen track. rob the mixificent strikes again! ;)
p.s. just tried to drop you an e-mail... hopefully you're still checking your yahoo account...
Whoa. This one almost slipped under my radar. Agreed with most everyone else about the opening two tracks there. Ditto zeke also (of course) on the 12-14 stretch. That's one of my favorite Beefheart tracks. Great stuff all the way around, mister.
Punch me harder! Hey, this is great.
kewl
Well at least you were able to post a mix. I tried unsuccessfully last night. You're the champion of the "for the hell of it" mix. I too like the opening shots, and Stay Up Late is one of my favorite post Speaking In Tongues tracks.
when beefheart shares a mix with the minutemen, superchunk, screeching weasel and the wu-tang clan, there's no other explanation except that mr. conroy is involved. nicely done.
Great! esp, the Beefheart and Sonic Youth pix . . .
Extremely cool, as ever, and nice 'n' eclectic - I really like the look of that middle section, from the Minutemen -> Talking Heads picks. You've been on a roll with these helluvit mixes!
all over the place and all over it! Aces as usual Mr. C
Lots to like here.
Great stuff Rob. Love the Minutemen through Boris and Venetian Snares -> Beefheart bits especially.
Wu-Tang again? a fine brew.
looks visceral.
Woah. That 4-6 bit looks especially fun.
did you received the records I sent you?
