Comment:

Just some songs that have sparked my imagination recently -- available for your downloading pleasure tomorrow, just two days before Totti and the Azzuri will win the World Cup. I honestly don't know how the cover art turned out so new-agey... destiny perhaps? Track notes provided by alma cogan:1. James Last's voodoo party gatecrashed by gay space pirates. 2. Honduran session musicians accidentally ingest peyote that has been genetically modified by Dr Funkenstein. 3. Barefootin' in crimson and clover. 4. Donny fails to console a distraught Vel-Aire with his angelic entreaty. 5. Radioactive pink panther goes on rampage in 50s Nagasaki. 6. I am speechless. 7. Garageland nougat stuck on broken teeth. 8. Normandy surf party ruined by washed-up D-Day skeleton. 9. Uplifting summer flutes dissuade despairing singer from self-immolation project. 10. Dr Congo's prognosis: the lion will not sleep tonight. 11. Black Ark burns victim understudies Fonda in Klute. 12. Opiated parrots fly east for winter. 13. Bob Seger adopts the mutant lovechild of Pascal Chimbonda and Princess Superstar. 14. Moroder's sulphurous ghost plunders Gaz's slippery hollow. 15. Relationship counselling in an Eighties Bruges discotheque. 16. I hear you knocking Nino. Allora va cagare. 17. Girls come to blows over Bobby's ring 18. Aryan triumphalism from the Dietrichy trickster 19. The hum of a dying star folding into blackness 20. More bounce to the ounce from Hermeto's hermits 21. 82 green bottles standing on a wall 22. Just wanna say Hi to the one I love 23. Spectral harmonies flutter through Sao Paolo cemetery 24. Whirling horn signals sublime retreat

Lovely to see a mix from you, and a great one at that! This really does look fantastic (love the Hope Sandoval especially) - there are a few picks I don't know, so will be waiting for the downloadability on tenterhooks!

Wow, I know barely anything here, but if the last mix you put up is anything to go by, then this must be equally as fantastic.

Good to have you back Orchid. Lots here that's new to me. But your track record speaks for itself. Really looking forward to the download

1 out of 3 are familiar. Which will, of course, provide a day's worth of investigation, wishlist formulation and ferverous musical desire.

Your silence has been noted, (and noticed.) Harmonia and Hope...both of which, to me, point to a Zidane!!! outcome Sunday. (The Azzuri are only out-dived by the Port-u-gay-suh...swim teams methinks.)

I wait with baited breath for the link to this, because the Hasil Adkins song is the only one I know (although I'm generally familiar with Ms. Sandoval)...

Thank god I can download this, cause quite frankly even with research (Googles, AllMusic, et al) many of these are still unknowns. I have no idea what this sounds like but the track by track research (when time permitted) has gotten me through a daunting day, thus far.

You sure know how to find the diamonds in the rough of obscurity! This is a terrific, terrific listen. (Although, I must confess to NOT liking at all the disco-y Gaz Nevada! Most everything else, however, is wonderful!)

fujiyama mama watussi!
this entices me to a download as soon as I can get to a decent connection, & then I expect I'll learn a thing or two, musically speaking . . .

Great to see you back, Orchid! This must be the week that all the MIA AOTMers make their triumphant return. I recognize about four of these songs, but that could soon change if I can find someone to download it for me. Yes, I'm still trying to figure out the cover. Looks like a knife-wielding Greek dude constellation. I'm scared.

The likes of Tabu Ley & Hasil Adkins seem like odd mix-mates, but I've got 'em both in my record collection so I suppose it'll make sense. Looking forward to hearing the rest. Thanks for the link & welcome back. Spotting an Orchid mix always makes my day more interesting.

Listened, finally, this afternoon and loved it. A very interesting mix. Bree Daniels, Gaz Nevada, Michel Polnareff & Hasil Adkins would be my Semi-Finalists, with Polnareff eventually holding the trophy aloft. He's French isn't he? Hmmm...

After listening to this, let me just say that this is absolutely fucking beautiful and top-notch. Not that I expected anything else... and that Torchbearers song is classic.
