Comment:

The start of a 'cousin series' to my Rob Gordon tapes. Making a love tape for each of my nearest and dearest friends culled from my vast vinyl library. I'd love to claim genius enough to do this while adhering to my 'only use each record on one tape' rule, but it'd compromise the quality, so that rules been dropped, but i still do my best not to repeat stand-by tracks (although stevie and paul simon on this mix kinda fall in there). This one's for my mate Tina, whom i'll likely only see once over a 12-month span due to our respective journeys to Egypt and Australia (hence, the title). Enjoy!

this is absolutely fantastic. from the clash to the VU, from otis to stevie, from bowie to the postal service - & what a closer you've got. hope the subsequent mixes & your trip go just as well as this incredible mixtape.

Side Two is what does it for me...LOVE that transition from upbeat optimism to sweet sorrow. Now the big question is, when might I get MY copy of a mix from the holy grail of record collections?
