Welcome back twerps. Get yourself comfy now, 'cause I am gonna tell you a tale. Once up a time back in the early '70's, there was a a gang of spacey folks who didn't bathe much and did way too many drugs. NO, IT WASN'T THE GRATEFUL DEAD! These guys were British and had a love of science fiction and played long songs. NO, IT WASN"T PINK FLOYD! The had a couple freaky members who dressed like frogs or swordwielding aerospace captains. NO IT WASN'T BRIAN ENO, PETER GABRIEL, OR FUNKADELIC! Now let me finish. Their music was loud. long and filled with loads of spacy blips and bleeps played on a synth by a dwarf. Yeah, a bonafide dwarf, so Kid Rock's gig wasn't the first. Guess what else, these freaks also employed a guy who spun records on turntables backwards too, not to mention a beautiful amazonian woman, straight out of the comic books who danced naked on stage. They also employed sci-fi writer Michael Moorcock and he made them characters in his books too. Oh, yeah the music, well listen its all trancy and spacey. Oh that ugly mug playing bass on these early records, thats our old pal from the pharmacy--Lemmy. He got his start here and got kicked out because he did too much of the wrong drugs. Anyway, in my world kids to go into orbit thier are only three spaceships you can leave on. Sun Ra's, George Clinton's Mothership and this here one by HAWKWIND. So strap yourself in...5,4,3,2,1...BLAST OFF. As usual in the Rock Snob series--Side one is HAwkwind, SIDE TWO is realted artist and artists where influence is noted.Feedback:
I humbly bow to your mix, if only life was as good as this mix.
Y'know, I'm surprised that I never mentioned how great this is...
