Comment:
As long as I had my 80s stuff unpacked for a recent retro-mix project, I decided to update my earlier New Wave Haircuts with a companion disc and box 'em together into a double-disc jewel case. A lot of this stuff I really hated when it came out back in junior high & high school, but with 20 years' distance... no, it's still pretty ugly. But fun for the occasional spin.
Feedback:
Some catchy stuff.
well, I'd have to agree with you on Valley Girl, but there's nothing ugly about Adam Ant, Bow Wow Wow and especially They Don't Know. and I like your cover art. my hair looked just like that when I got out of bed this morning.
I like a lot of this stuff, although I could do without ever hearing that Big Country song ever again...
Gotta say that the 80's weren't my favourite time, but, as you say, 20 years does make a difference to some of it. I'd need another 20 years before I enjoyed 1, 9, 13 or 15, but the rest looks great . . . . a brave piece of work.
this is pretty awesome.
Looks like the soundtrack to a lost John Hughes film, starring Molly Ringwald as a high school student eager to lose her virginity to the football captain before graduation. It never happens, but she learns that she's a stronger person because of it. He ends up killing himself three days after commencement , and decides to move to Florida where she starts a new life as a game warden. No wonder the film never got distributed. Oh yeah, nice mix.
Damn, Ion, you found the script I wrote!
Lots of good picks here... reminds me of my nights in the soundbooth during the early 80s.
Fer shure fer shure.
A veritable 80's Home of the Hits; not a bad thing in itself, and rescued handsomely by the inclusion of the Pete Shelley track. Hang on, I've just spotted the Frank Zappa song -- no fair, what's that all about?
