R.I.P. NLA. Thanks, chaps.

So ... I went into a bookstore on a small, nearby island the other day and discovered the proprietor was running a low-wattage/Internet radio station. I inquired and one thing lead to another and this is my first show, likely to be broadcast next week or so. I don't live on the island, so I can't actually do anything but submit playlists. I feel like a bit of an interloper, really, but one hopes the music will still be appreciated, and that should be all that counts, right? Who knows, maybe one or two folks will actually tune in. The links aren't the same as the usual NLA stuff. Just files you can either arrange in the order here or ... not. : )

P.S. There's a bit of unfinished New Leif Allstars business in the form of the second Ultimate Alt. DJ mix and all those well-intentioned dedication mixes we promised. I will continue the Alt. DJ thing in a subsequent mix, piecing together the first 7 tracks so we can start fresh and folks can get an idea of where the mix is going. As for the unfinished dedication mixes ... our apologies. Our intentions were much grander than the time we had to carry them out.

I'm sorry to hear that NLA are no more. Some of your mixes were truly ear-opening and musical-horizon-expanding. (Btw, are you saying [in your new profile] that mixes can be put together in less than a week?) But I'm glad to read that your solo mixes will now be featured on a radio station. Before long record companies will swamp you with CDs that they would like you to play on your show! (One can always wish.)
Oh, and what's the meaning of that "R.I.P. NLA" link?

I finally got around to listening. What a fine mix! Highlights include Greg Brown (I already took notice after hearing him for the first time on your Crawdad Hole mix), Keola Beamer (whom I now put on my CD wish list), Lee Hazelwood's Honeysuckle Rose, Jaco Pastorius, and mouth music artist Meredith Monk. But hey, I like all the other tracks, too.
