Comment:

like the other mix i just posted, this is for a friend who lives far enough away from me to have avoided needing a tape deck. hence the cd. this friend is a big david bowie fan (though it's not in her nature to be fanatic the way i am), hence the astronettes and the joan as police woman and the rarish bowie. also, this mix starts and ends with different versions of the same song, which works much better with cds than with tapes.

A hell of a lot to like on here! Great sequence and clever bookending of the France Gall / April March tracks. Off to investigate the stuff that's new to me...

A very good pair of mixes but i'll never get the whole cassette thing, it was a rubbish medium and now technology has moved on enough to provide better alternatives. Its called progress. You might as well write your sleevenotes on papyrus. I appreciate the nostalgic aspect but its time to let go, sorry if that makes me unpopular.

Barry you are so unpopular! This on the other hand, looks like a great mix . . . I'm about 60:40 on the know:don't know ratio, so like deja_vu_all_over_again says . . .

Barry's right if you ask me. As for the music, looks good to me.

The mix is rather good, as it happens. No capital leters and an audio tape fixation -- these are the worrisome aspects. I must side with Barry. What is this clinging to old technology syndrome? Use the shift key and get a cd burner -- it's 2006 and these are wonderful things. Yeah, like your really going to take notice of anything I have to say. Still, I feel better, so thanks.

i find it interesting that people are concerned about your choice of medium or typing style. cd vs tape has no affect on my enjoyment of the presentation of your mix, unless i am interested in a trade, and thus no concern of mine. as for lack of capitalization, i think it is appropiate for this format. it is quick and readable. what more is necessary. practice peace.

mixers who abandoned tapes in the blink of an eye (see unpopular ones below!) were probably never into tapes to begin with. tapes are a lot more challenging, in my opinion. but anyway, this looks pretty groovy.

Whatever works, I say. Side B (I'm guessing) really looks great...nice flow!

cassettes rule. there's something nice about getting to choose two openers and two closers in a mix, with an intermission inbetween. and they're more fun to look at. and I like having a side a / side b. and sleevenotes on papyrus also have a sturdy feel to them, like they could be found in a cave thousands of years later. great-looking mix, by the way. I love that "Apollo 9" song, just ask my neighbors.

Well slap me hard and whisper tiresome trivia in my ear. That's me told. Audio tapes are the choice of champions and lower case is "quick and readable". Why did I not see it? Oh wait, I know -- because it's just wrong in that "no-explanation-needed" way that some things are. Of course I embraced and loved the audio tape -- it was responsible for the birth of this whole mixing lark. Technology moves on apace and only serves to enhance the noble art. I welcome it with open mind and open CD drawer. As to this "quick and readable" nonsense -- well there you have it -- it's nonsense! How the hell is a capital letter less "readable". I'll concede that it may take a few nanoseconds and considerable effort to move the finger that few millimetres to the shift key. Are we really in such a hurry? I did not create the written word and the rules -- whose very purpose is to make things "readable". No I did not, but I use them in the interest of mutual understanding.I will never be convinced that lower case only syndrome is anything more than an affectation. Let's not pretend it's anything else. Audio tapes are a warm reminder of the past - all very nice I'm sure. Yet here we are in the present with all the tools we ever needed to further the joy of making mixes. It's yet another affectation to pretend that some indefinable purity died with the cassette tape. You may tell me it's not important - but once again you'd be wrong. It's as simple as that.
