Comment:

Well, this year have been quite important in my life in many fields, like love, career and all that. So, i resolved to make a selection of my favourite tracks, since the year i was born (1980) until now, choosing 1 song per year, and only 1 song per artist.

I have to confess that this idea wasn't mine. I saw a mix called "Oh, Sh*t! I'm 40! (2-cd set)", by Pop Kulcher (http://www.artofthemix.org/FindAMix/GetContents.asp?strMixid=103354&song=&artist=) and i loved it. I loved the mix and i loved the idea.

This pompous name was taken from a Van Gogh's painting named "Old Man in Sorrow (or On The Threshold of Eternity)".

what's amazing is that you could have gone in so many different directions with this, but you've managed to be both focused & cohesive, yet eclectic & wide-ranging at the same time. i always love to see my absolute favorite bands on board (nirvana, the smiths, radiohead), along with some other treasures (weezer, REM, the cure, joy division, arcade fire, pixies, beastie boys, jamc). it's difficult to name them all off, since this entire thing is terrific. wonderful job.

This is a startlingly good musical chronicle of your time amongst us. It's a well paved road, and the signposts are brilliant. Two tracks sum up the mix for me: The wonderful, and most poignant in my musical landscape, "Ceremony" -- a masterpiece! and "Sabotage" -- a raw hunk of fun in the midst of it all.So here you are at this "important" time of your life; taking stock and feeling the first pangs of nostalgia. Thanks for the insight. I have no fears for your future...

Cool. Glad you enjoyed the concept (which I can't claim to have made up). Of course, since few of us start out cool enough to listen to Joy Division in year one, I think you owes us some dirt on what you were REALLY listening to as a young 'un. And happy birthday!

Yeah, you're right.

I think from 1992 on i was REALLY listening to the tracks in each year. Before that... well, since my parents were youngsters from the 60's to early 70's, the soundtrack of my childhood was a mixture of Beatles/Rolling Stones/Pink Floyd with the post-punk radio hits from the 80's, like Echo & the Bunnymen, The Smiths and New Order. I really don't know if i was listening to that tracks exactly in the release year, but they were very present in my life since i was a kid.

Thank you all, and sorry for the bad english.
