Comment:

Because, when you come right down to it, there's absolutely no reason to ruin a perfectly good rock 'n' roll song with a fourth chord. Except maybe if you thrown in a minor seventh for the bridge, but setting that aside...

Had a feeling Louie Louie would make an appearance here. Cool idea for a mix. I once read up on just how many chords there really are - it was kind of amazing since obviously 3 is plenty.

Almost every single song here is a classic. I'm all in favor of the three chord wonder (there is a fourth chord in "I Can't Explain," though).

Love this! Was just listening to that Go-Gos track so it makes me very happy to see it here. Excellent Clash -> Wire section too - yep, you really DID nail 'em.

All killer shit! Three chords and the truth, man. And the occasional drop-three-half-steps minor.... I gotta say, though - the last Who song and the Nazz just don't feel like 3 chord songs. Maybe too bombastic, with complicated fills. But hey, who's complaining?

Sean -- funny, the Nazz track and "Baba O'Riley" were the two I struggled with most. The Nazz really vamp through the whole thing, so it's not exactly a three-chord wonder, but it does open with the "Can't Explain" riff, and follows that motif through the song even if they avoid the chords themselves once the jamming starts. As for "Baba," I really wanted to open and close with the Who, as Townshend relied on three-chord riffs more than pretty much anyone else in history. It came down to this or "In a Hand or Face," and I probably could have gone either way.

I love love love this! Not a single thing I don't like here, though I agree with Sean about Baba O'Riley.
