Comment:

Ten years after first hearing them, I'm still pretty clueless about the origin of the Sea and Cake's sound. They still sound like no other band I've heard. Much of the credit for this, I think, goes to the incomparable John McIntyre, whose drumming is the S&C soul. At the same time, though, the other three members have each brought something special to the S&C. I hope to further highlight this in a companion mix which will focus on the members' side projects and pre-S&C bands, in addition to assorted stray S&C tracks.
