Comment:

For their ninth wedding anniversary, my wife and I bought some close friends of ours a six-month subscription to Netflix. To complement the gift, my wife asked me to create a movie-music mix for them as well. In typical fashion I went way overboard and created a two-volume set, one with movie music and one with TV music—not that I had anything approximating the time to spare! Some songs are originals, some later cover versions. I'll find out tomorrow how our friends like the set! (FYI, if you ever get the chance to see Ethan Lipton live, do it.)  [album art full size]

Good idea! I was thinking of doing something similar myself and only got around to jotting down a few on paper, of course most of my entries seem to be from 80's movies.

Like the tracks 3,4,5,6,8,9,10,16 and 21. The music in Run Lola Run is so good that I had to buy the soundtrack.

this is brilliant - totally inspired, excellent cuts, & great film choices. obviously alot of work was put into this, & you did an excellent job choosing the top-notch with the novelty. i'm partial to the tarantino film songs, & the public enemy & psychedelic furs tracks.

I must assume, Herr Shunn, that you have entered into some "agreement" with satan. This is the only logical explanation for the sheer quality and the alarming speed at which you create these bundles of musical joy. You even give the game away with a reference to not having the time to do this -- ha! I rest my case. However you manage it, I care not. The results are always damnably entertaining and stunningly well presented. This mix and its companion are great -- it's as simple as that.

I STILL cannot listen to that Stealers Wheel cut without thinking of Michael Madsen doing that lurching White Boy On The Dance floor move...

Good stuff. I still cannot listen to that BJ Thomas cut without thinking of Paul Newman and that babe riding the bicycle...
