Comment:
This is my first attempt at a narrative mix. I didn't want to go too crazy as far as making up a story line, so I basically just wanted to make a mix that kind of had the feel of the natural course of a relationship. It's broken up into three parts, each seven songs long: The fist part is meant to capture the uncertainty and awkwarness that comes at the very beginning--before it's even really a relationship at all. The second is mean to feel like when it's good. The third is meant to feel like when it's...not so good...while at the same time remaining kind of hopeful. I was trying to avoid any mean or overly-sad songs.Annnywaaay. Enjoy.
Feedback:
Looks nice, and definitely great S-K and Magnetic Fields picks.
How about that, your "first attempt" and you've succeeded. Well done.
I find theme and narrative mixes to be the hardest. You've done well on your first attempt, do carry on.
Looks quite cool (particularly the Wilco and Mag Fields). You might want to check out Of Montreal's Bedside Drama album, a concept album of sorts which traces a similar theme.
weak
Interesting how you depicted all relationships ending on a down-note. So sad :(True?Hope not.Nice stuff, btw.
If at first you succeed, don't try again. The grim reaper don't like no love songs, but we do.
hmm, i try to make *all* my mixes into narratives of sorts, but rarely ever identify them as such on aotm. anyway, i find that unless you can hear all the songs in the same order, you'll never get the same effect that the mix-creator intended.
so, on that note, do you do trades ? if so, check out my roster of mixes to see if there's anything that catches your eye and i'll let you know which of your mixes caught mine (i must admit that there were quite a few !)
