Comment:
My second mix!1) Recently voted by fans to be the second-greatest Morrissey track ever. 2) Creepy song about a creepy guy. 3) Best song so far from the little sister of Jim & William Reid. Sounds just like J&MC. 4) Deeper than it seems at first, a Johnny Marr instrumental. 5) Best track from his latest - a collaboration with Eno. 6) Yeah, I've been on a Go-Betweens kick. 7) How do they keep cranking out the hits? Pop at its finest, with a hint of a New Order bassline. 8) Decent track, nothing spectacular. These guys may have hit their peak with "The Only One I Know." 9) Johnny Marr plays guitar on this intense, defiant track by the late KM. 10) DG wisely walked a narrow line in his interpretation of this Go-Betweens classic. 11) Devestating comeback (in the '80s) single from the original Buzzcock. 12) The Manchester new wavers who would become Simply Red doing a catchy, punky thing. 13) One of the greatest sides of the '80s by the other Buzzcock. 14) One of the better one-hit wonders - sounds like an Echo & the Bunnymen throwaway single. 15) A heartbreaker from a criminally overlooked songwriter. 16) Nick Drake-influenced Swedish guy with Argentine parents. Sounds gross, tastes fine. 17) The song Johnny Marr says he wishes he had written. 18) and 19) The song s Johnny Marr ripped off for the There Is a Light intro. 20) My current favorite Go-Betweens track. Killer duet, but I haven't been able to figure out the female vocalist's name yet. 21) Another criminally overlooked artist - Crossover does bizarre lyrics over catchy electro beats.
Feedback:
Once again, loads of cool tunes here. Love the Sufjan, Go-Betweens, Kirsty MacColl, and VU in particular. And nice to see a nod to Paul Simon's new album; not a huge fan of his solo work over the past couple decades, but teaming up with Eno was an inspired move and made for a better album than you'd expect of the guy at this point in his career.
