Comment:
Another quick one almost completely filled with new acquisitions of mine. This is quite the rollicking listening ride. Thanks to SwankQueen for the Betty Davis track and to lo-fi jr for the Greg Sage and Kendra Smith tracks (he hipped me to the Debris' and Monster Magnet tracks, as well). Title by Mr. Cocker. (Note: Anthony wasn't hallucinating--there *was* a Stone Roses song where Taj Mahal now resides. It just didn't fit the way I wanted it to fit....)Feedback:
Love 8-10, 18 & 20.
"that's the way" is probably my all-time favorite zeppelin song - great tracks from ATCQ, the stone roses, nick lowe & the pretenders too.
I like the look of this... put it on the pile if you would.
As if you aren't generally a "busy little monkey making mixes", Rob ... intriguing as usual. Always love to see the Raincoats and Rick Danko!
Busy monkey, indeed. And continuing down the path of preparing mixed-genre mixes that go far beyond my (apparently narrower than I like to believe) musical knowledge. So I'll have to take it on faith that this is great.
ah, half japanese.... i used to love them. fun mix.
Very nice. I especially like the Raincoats and Debris' tracks.
Stay away from Ipswich man. Bitchin' mix.
wow, that's such a classic Tribe song! nicely done.
I love the title. Know quite little on here but love 6,8,13 & 21. Heed bears advice as well! ( Although it's fairly near Norwich, Barrys city of choice )...
Bear is correct stay away from Ipswich, vile place. Norwich aint much better but we all gotta live somewhere. I know very little here Rob. But love the Tribe and Cutler picks.
Much to like but the closer is a blinder.
Ooh, I like, I like. The Pretenders -> Tribe Called Quest section is really nice; like the Raincoats too and it's good to see Jarvis Cocker included there too. Great stuff as always!
I know about four of these songs, so you're shopping in a different section than I am. Like your Quest and Zep selections as well.
Amazing.
Jesus Christ, Rob. This looks sooooo fucking great, dude. The opening stretch from Annette Peacock->Zeppelin is jaw-dropping, as well as the rest of this mix. I'm having a hard time getting into the new Hold Steady disc, for some reason though.
Jarvis Cocker,Taj Mahal and the Half-Japanese into the Tribe track all makes for a pimpin' good time.
I love that opener... it's my theme song. I also like the Ivor, Kendra, Half Japanese & Zeppelin tidbits too. I have a friend who lives in Ipswich, Massachusetts. But Jarvis is probably referring to the town in Suffolk, East Anglia, in that boring country over there.
Tremendous diversity, nicely knitted together.
wow. i leave for 4 years and this is what happens? ;)
