Apocalyptic visions and the slow gruesome death of the guilty are
not normal fare for teenie-popper
Mandy Moore, but she throws everything she's got at it.
The other Moore, Thurston, is much less bold, as he sings the Karen Carpenter
bowdlerization ("I can hardly wait to be with you again")
instead of the original Bonnie Bramlett lyric
("...to sleep with you again").
The Cascada track was a huge radio hit, and the youth
of today are fascinated to learn that it is actually a cover of
a beautiful love song.
"Sure Dad. Whatever."
Travis Morrison was frontman of The Dismemberment Plan.
Many thanks to bingsy for #1, Michael Cook for #4, and sammyg123 for #13.
Feedback:
This looks tasty, I like that SY Carpenters cover and i'm familiar with the Shonen Knife pick too but little else, track 5 in particular intrigues me.
I love your Crazy Covers mixes Ed. Mandy Moore doing Senses..? If it's anything like her version of God Only Knows, that will leave me gobsmacked (although not in a good way!). Familiar with the SY, and the Cascada track is huge over here right now, altho I had no idea it was a cover. Didn't Maggie Reilly sing Moonlight Shadow?
I have to here this, as it all looks so intruiging, btw yr welcome re: tk 13...

very f'in cool man. very awesome.
Interesting stuff you put together hear.
"Nice cover of the genre." Tom said categorically.
Great-looking mix, I like the arrangement. That Ludacris cover is a song for certain moods... either I love it or it drives me insane.
Really interesting assortment of stuff here...looks like a great listen!
I have got to hear that Mandy Moore cover...unreal. This looks insanely interesting.
Count me with sport !
Great concept. Love the Scissor Sister's version of Conf. Numb.
interesting ones, espec love to see a Shonen knife pick
This is very cool and has a lot of unusual stuff - always good to see! I, too, am expressing interest in that Mandy Moore cover, I have to say...love the Sonic Youth choice too! Nice.
Too much fun!!!
Wowzers!
Excellent idea. I must confess I'm only familiar with a handful of these covers but I like the sound of quite a few of them. I can think of a few other examples of this kind of thing. Food for thought.
Great idea, greatly done.
A Madame Guillotine of a mix = very well executed.
I couldn't believe it, but Mandy Moore's cover is actually pretty solid.
Mandy Moore...wha!! Hmm...the mix looks swell. Great work.
Wow, wonderful idea and cool selections throughout.
MOST excellent!
I love this mix. Thanks for the kind words too! It's good to be back.
