Comment:

A mix dedicated to the underrated (by music snobs) down 'n' dirty artistry of Billy Gibbons. I've really, really been enjoying his '70s work lately, although I'm not sure what that says about me. And yes, his post-Deguello output is indeed unforgiveable, IMHO. Last track cut: "Cheap Sunglasses."

Yay, my 2nd fave karaoke song to perform -- #21! (First being Iron Man, of course.) I would like an early ZZ Top mix, myself, but even better put together by the King of Classic Rock.

Nice stuff, Rob. Been digging on some ZZ Top myself over the last few months. Those reissues of "Tres Hombres" and "Fandango" are aces!

What? I thought the music snobs love ZZ Top. Lately anyway. I was obsessed with the Legs video when I was a little girl. I wanted to be the lady in the white top, white mini-skirt, white knee-high boots & black cap. This looks great except it's perhaps missing "Asleep in the Desert".

Music snobs are coridally invited to perform unpleasant and unsantary acts upon themselves and others they should find in public toilets... Having said that, I would have tossed Back Door Love Affair into the mix... I like this particular mix, with or without my own choice (or others, for that matter).

Love this, Rob. Haven't spun these guys in awhile, need to dig 'em out.

Well, I was worried for a moment that I'd be reliving the early 80's MTV glory days (is there anyone from our era who doesn't have the twirled furry guitar and the car and the keychain and, yes, the girls in the wonderful miniskirts permanently emblazened in our counsciousness?), but, alas, it was not to be. Can't say I know much beyond the fm radio hits (i.e. Tush, La Grange, etc.).

Wow! Don't worry, I think you're definitely getting praise from the musos on here - this is really nicely done. I know a lot less Moving Sidewalks than ZZ Top stuff - absolutely something I have to remedy.

Don't know what the music snobs say these days, but I always thought Billy Gibbon's playing was super fine. Excellent choices, especially Nasty Dogs and Funky Kings.

truth be told, even the 80s hits had their charm.

HELL YEAH! I've been loving them again since they've scapped the '80's drums and brought back the original mixes!! Great picks.

Great choices - and some killer riffs. I looked down on ZZ Top for many years, but then I heard Rapeman's cover of "Just Got Paid", which kicked my ass. Then I bought the ZZ Top album it's from and realized the original rocked even more. And now I have most of their catalog and love just about everything (even those last few marginal albums have some gems).
