Great artists tend to keep on keepin’ on, and Chaka Khan is no exception — the latter end of the ’00s brought her 13th studio album, Funk This, featuring dance-chart-topper “Disrespectful” (a divalicious hook-up with Mary J.), as well as the revisited “Pack’d My Bags,” a Rufus original which we’ve included (in its virgin state) among these Deep Cuts. Rags to Rufus (1974), the band’s second album, marked the moment when Khan would stamp her vocal authority at the front of the outfit (first album co-lead Ron Stockert was on his way out) — check out their delicious cover of Ashford and Simpson’s “Ain’t Nothin’ But a Maybe.”
