Comment:

The most ancient of our holiday traditions, Hanukkah celebrates the rededication of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem, an eight-day "Festival of Lights" that is commemorated by the lighting of the menorah, a special candelabrum that holds one candle for each of the days . . . plus an extra shamash, or "servant," to ignite the rest. And whether your musical tastes run toward the traditional Yiddish songs of Theodore Bikel or the nudnik nuttiness of Adam Sandler, whether you're Orthodox or Reform, whether you spell the celebration with an "H" or a "Ch" at the beginning, we have the perfect soundtrack for a religious observance that dates back more than two millennia. So join us in a "mazel tov!" to the season, and light up your own festival with some oysgetseykhent music — that's "outstanding" for the goyim in the audience.
