Comment:

My favorite 80 minutes by the only ensemble that's ever rivalled Public Enemy in the race for the (oh-so-coveted) title of my favorite hip hop act. Q-Tip is a genius and Phife is a massively underrated foil. The quality on this disc is a bit front-loaded, as it was difficult not to base this mix almost completely on tracks from their first two albums (although Midnight Marauders has grown on me recently). Thanks to p the swede for tracks 15-16 and 18 and to Shawn Porter for tracks 19-20. Last tracks cut: "Show Business," "Luck of Lucien," "Check the Rhime," and "Description of a Fool."

Glad to contribute to a fine, fine mix, my friend. Been enjoying the Tribe's appearance on some of your most recent mixes, so it seems an appropriate time for a single artist mix on these guys. "Midnight Marauders" might be my favorite album of theirs, btw.

no complaints here. nice to see "stressed out"! always dug it even though the chorus is a little cheesy.

Nice! One of the few rap acts I got into in the late 80s/early 90s (along with De La Soul, Digable Planets, PE and the Jungle Brothers). Now where's that Arrested Development mix ;)

You hit all of my Tribe faves. And now just seeing the title is going to put "Can I Kick It?" in my head all day long. On the hip-hop scale for me Tribe were below DeLa, Run DMC, and PE and just above the Jungle Brothers.

No, to be honest, I really think you ought to go with these guys over Public Enemy. Well, they win hands down for me anyway, and this mix is pretty much testament to why. Great choices all round. Well done.
