Comment:

First off, I've gotta say, I'm not much of a Weezer fan. Which is why this is a pretty unambitious mix -- a few tracks each off their five albums, no demos, no b-sides, no rarities (plenty of which one can find in mp3 format on their fan site). This plainly falls into the category of single-artist mixes I make solely so I can box up the original discs to clear some space on the shelves, as I never listen to them (I can't remember the last time I listened to their debut or Pinkerton, but it's probably been a decade). That said, they do have some great power pop moments, particularly on the Green Album and the underrated Maladroit. And "El Scorcho" is one of the stand-out singles of the 90's, even if I find the widely (and overly) praised Pinkerton cd far too grating. And last year's Make Believe is pretty damn awful; atrocious single "Beverly Hills" makes an appearance here largely because my 10-year-old son likes it.

i'm a fan of the first couple albums (the blue album, pinkerton & the green album), as they are, or were, definitely capable of crafting some fine power pop. i've lost interest in their more recent stuff, & rarely listen to their earlier stuff as well -- but when they were good, they were good. great summation here...

Wow. You actually compiled a mix of one of my least-favorite bands in recent memory. Wow. Hey, to each his/her own...

Always seemed like a band that could never rise to the greatness of their first single - but what a great single, eh?

this is quite well done, despite the lack of b-sides, which I seem to enjoy more than most of their other tracks. I agree with you that Maladroit is highly underrated.

Looks good. I will probably do a Weezer mix myself one day soon. I dig Pinkerton though, so I'd probably include a couple more from there than you did.

You left a comment on my "Power Mix." I don't know how to send a reply to you except like this. Would you like to make a trade? I'd be interested in your "Now That's What I Call Indie Pop" and this Weezer mix.

By the way, here is the Magnet article I based the Power Mix on: http://www.magnetmagazine.com/interviews/powerpop.html.

Weezers wobble but the don't fall down. I don't own a single CD by these cats, so maybe I could trade for this. Would you be willing to toss in a Weezer t-shirt?

i certainly didn't think you'd make something like this. but it's nice that you did, even if it was only to clean up your shelves. i'm a "blue album" and pinkerton fan myself (i was still in grade school when they came out!)...
