Comment:
Barry and I have been kicking around the idea of collaborating for a while, and I'm glad we got around to it. We both are fans of the new folk scenes popping up on both sides of the pond. We are both especially fond of the garage-folk sound known as `anti-folk'. Happens that a bunch of kids I went to school with at SUNY Purchase in Westchester County, New York (Jeff Lewis, Kimya Dawson, Anders Griffen, Adam Green, Dufus, Regina Spector.) all happen to be in the middle of this scene that came together at the Sidewalk CafT in the East Village. Barry sent me a bunch of stuff from the US and Europe that has a common vibe. I threw some "roots of anti-folk" tunes (The Fugs, Beat Happening, David Peel, Daniel Johnston) into the mix with some other, newer stuff. Well, enjoy!Feedback:
This looks genius to me.
Fantastic. Christ, I've got so many mixes to listen to tomorrow! Know many artists here, few tracks. Cheers guys..
You've done a splendid job compiling this one Mike, It sounds great. Cheers my friend.
Cool that you knew some of them in their formative years. Looks good from what few I know.
I like the looks of this.
Looks cool... will give it a listen
Looks awesome guys! Blasi & Barry, kicking some anti-folk butt!
Brilliant B&B! (..and I'm with Ish on that sentiment...,the juniper berry sucks.)
Oh man, this looks fantastic. Will definitely be giving this one a listen.
Peter Molinari owes me ú4.23. He doesn't remember, but I do, and that's the important thing. This mix is worth at least ú8.76 of anyone's cash. You might not think that's much; but, clearly, Mr. Molinari does. Still, like so many of the artists on the mix he sings a good song; and I guess that's enough to be going on with...
Marvelous
Excellent co-mixing and - for me who knows not a lot on here but who wanted a intro - a great choice of genre. Thanks :)
Been meaning to do an exploration of mix of this type...and now the bar has been raised. Thanks for the download!!!
yes, this looks quite interesting... thanks.
no zilch here, but i'm sure it's up to both your usual standards.
I wanna' hear Sal's Pizza. will download tomorrow and report.
well Sal's Pizza was mighty tastey indeed. this whole thing is even better than I imagined it would be; besides the pizza, really like 3-5-11-12-14-18-19-20. also forwarded this to some friends who I know will really dig it, and to my co-worker who kept asking what we were listening to. it's the first sunny Seattle morning in about 3 weeks, and this was the perfect music for it.
Just listening to thiis offering & see for some reason unknown to me see I've not commented upon it's magnificence; well that's now sorted I guess!
