Probably my most important musical discovery of the year - I started getting into her because she was scheduled to play in Bordeaux, so I wanted to see what the fuss was about, fell in love completely with the new album On Leaving after a couple of listens and then worked my way into her back catalog, only to learn that the gig had been cancelled, to my great, great sorrow. This mix is kind of a (small) consolation and the result of my recent obsession. I don't really care all that much for The Blackened Air, so that album is less represented - on the contrary, I do realize I've included almost the entirety of Run To Ruin, but it's just too much of a fantastic record to do otherwise. Also, "Been So Long" was originally supposed to be the closer, but I realized that it was probably a sacrilege to have it follow the tremendously beautiful "Bird Of Cuzco", so it got cut at the last minute. I don't like to toot my own horn, but I love how this flows despite the variety of styles - probably the fact that she's worked with the same producer on all four albums helped. Title from a great song that didn't make the cut ("Jim's Room").
