Comment:
Made this mix for a friend who wanted to hear some Joy Division. Only thought Joy Division was really depressing quiet music so I made this mix of JD's more upbeat sounding songs. I also added two of my favorite New Order songs.Cover:
Inside bits:
*Note: I didn't go by lyrical content and yes, I know some of the songs on this are actually really depressing and sad but I just went by the sound of the song.
Feedback:
I really like this as a Joy Division fan, but I need to ask. Why listen to Joy Division if you don't want to be depressed?
You can't go wrong with these songs but I must disagree with disappearer. His question makes no sense at all. It gets me hot under the collar when people label music as depressing, It is what you make it and who actually WANTS to be depressed? It's almost as bad as this emo tag that gets bandied about, Emo is a contraction of emotional, all good music should hold some emotion or else whats the point of listening to it at all?. Sorry about the rant.
Could instead be titled: A Really Cool Joy Division Mix. Can't argue with any of your selections....well done.
i like the idea. Isolation is my favorite Joy Division song. It sounds so cheerful and upbeat I even considered doing a compilation kind of similar to yours. but then again, as if we could really find a non-depressing JD song!
Cool. Can I trade you for my "Most Depressing K.C. and the Sunshine Band Songs" mix?
I find myself in complete accord with Barrydali -- who'd a thunk it? I am unable to conceive of a time when I might say to myself -- "oh, I know what I really want right now -- I want to be depressed." How daft is that? Better be careful, I suppose, there's probably a "Right To Seek Depression" group combing the web for just this sort of fascism. This mix is a corker -- how could it be otherwise when dealing with Joy Division and New Order... "Age Of Consent" -- quality!
