Comment:

I wanted to make some new playlists for my iPod, and thought that a few single artist mixes might be the way to go...and it just so happened that I decided to do this the very same day that I got the new CD by Beck. As if it's not abundantly clear, I'm really big on his new disk and THE INFORMATION and the previous one GUERO. I also couldn't help but start the mix with my favorite song by His Beckness. Still, I think this lil' mix represents his work quite well, and

i think his new album is kind of boring -- though there are quite a few tracks i really love off it -- & even guero seems a bit forced to me. i'm a huge fan of his earlier work though (sea change & everything before it), & certainly don't hate his new stuff -- just a bit disappointed by it. so it's hard to go wrong with beck, so this still looks like a great listen.

In my humble opinion, if it's worth something, his best work is Mutations. And you don't have a track from it. I'm not saying you should change it; but if you dig Beck and haven't checked Mutations, it's a must. Can't say much from The Information, and Guero was kind of fun at the beginning, then.

Yeah, dude you did this all wrong - you need to put more stuff from "One foot in the grave"... Nah, It's a fine mix - I've recently been mixing up some Beck myself. I like his new album but there is a part of me that feels like he's pushing it for the sake of pushing it - he seems happier doing the Sea Changes & Mutations type stuff... But Guero and The Information are damn good anyway. Strange Appirition & Rental Car are two of my favorite Beck songs from Guero & The Information - check them out... Well, hasta, amigo!
