Comment:
The final entry in my trilogy of mixes aimed at giving voice to my best friend's girl troubles (specifically, his loneliness in their absence). This one is supposed to make him feel better by offering generalized hope. Not only are the cheesier songs (Speedwagon, Bolton, Hot Chocolate) deliberately chosen for their specific relation to the theme, but their silliness is also meant to make him feel better. I didn't want to be pretentious with any of this, as though I had some profound answer to or comprehension of his very deep, serious feelings, so I levied it here with some perky, uplifting music that you could also chuckle at, if necessary. Although I do honestly get a thrill of inspiration from "Time for Me to Fly" AND "Go the Distance" AND "I Believe in Miracles" so I'm not being ironic, let me assure you. Anyway...I know that Israel K. song, regardless of how beautiful it is, is rather a cliche now, but my friend loves it, and I didn't want to end this mix (or the whole series) on a rocking note. I thought it would be better to give it a subdued, peaceful fade out, akin to a soft smile. Yep, that's itFeedback:
how thoughtful! I must say, when I'm feeling down there's nothing like Twisted Sister to get me back on the happy track. ;) but seriously, I also like that Hot Chocolate song w/o irony. nice mix set.
