Comment:

As this mix was made with Annie in mind I've naturally referenced both France & Painting. To my horror, she has recently confessed to being a closet metal fan, so I suspect this will only confirm her suspicions that my life as a man is a masquerade. This mix will presumably bear the stress of much fast forwarding and end up strangled in the tape deck or worse decoration for the dog's collar. Such is the decoration of Tilly (the dog)by Annie's 2 girls, I'm surprised the gendarmes haven't picked her up for drunken behaviour. As much as I like Ziggy Stardust, I'm always a tad wary of sitting in the local cafe beside a dog whose ears are festooned with glitter and gold stars and whose head has been painted with green felt tip and spiked with butter. Cover Star: Annie.

I am unsure when the remarkable "Annie" first suffused your consciousness, Dom; but I do find cause for celebration thereof. It may be that she was always there, I know not. I do know that she appears to bring out the best in you. I mean no disrespect, I hasten to add. I am attempting to say, with my usual perspicacity (ha!) that this Annie-inspired mix is a golden, glowing thing; abundant with riches. I believe I like it all, but I particularly favour the T Rex, Nouvelle Vague, Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, John Barry, Cibbo Matto and Led Zeppelin tracks. Don't be too harsh about the "Closet-Metal" thing. I had a brief run in with it myself, but eventually found the whole genre a bit confining -- yes, yes you're right, there isn't a joke in there somewhere.p.s. I loved your comment on Pop Kulcher's Pavement mix. You're opening that many doors, Dom, someone's going to catch a chill...

i've been listening to alot of zeppelin lately -- i don't know why, but you've just confirmed that it's for a very good reason. this looks inexplicably good, of course, as always

This looks wonderful, Dom. I suspect that if I were to listen to it, I'd explode in pure musical escstasy at some point while side 2 was playing - somewhere between Nouvelle Vague and the Pizzicato 5. And I'm still blushing from your comment on my Xmas mix.

I know next to nothing here, but I certainly dig the Stooges, T. Rex, Betty Davis and (yes) Zep tracks...

Dom got turned on to Shibuya-kei and I am sad that I missed out on the transition.
