Comment:

Firstly, let me clear a couple of things up. I'm not proclaiming this mix as `Genius', as the title may suggest. No. Quite simply, struggling for a title ( not for the first time ), I decided to lift two words from albums a couple of these tracks were taken from. Namely `Brakes - Beatific Visions' and `Julian Cope - Floored Genius'.
Must also point out the `Goodies' feature here aren't the hugely successful comics of the 70's, rather a not so successful Girl Group from the 60's. Can I also say that track 21 is probably my favourite song EVER! And has been since hearing it for the first time last week (ahem).
Anyway, onto the mix. Not Genius but certainly very good! And most definitely `Beatific', whatever the heck that means.

Good to know that there's someone else having a late-night mixing and typing session out there in the Mancunian wilderness! ;) This looks wonderful (and I really like the title) - love the Miracles pick of course, and nice Jarvis Cocker and Residents picks too. And The Feelies! Great to see them so prominently featured. Lovely stuff overall.

Well, if it's still your favourite song EVER (caps 'n all) after an entire week, then it must be serious. I do believe this breaks my record for how long I'm willing to make these kind of grand statements about any given song. (Sorry, English syntax is never my biggest strength after 2am!)
Also, I'm kind of stating the obvious here, but this looks great, Sammy.

This is friggin' awesome, sammy, particularly the opener, the Miracles, Jarvis, Wilco, Pavement, Teardrops, Residents and Dion picks.

Well I'll call it genius. Love that Au Revoir Simone song too -- though not as much as Hurricanes or Sad Song (from the new record). My cat and I also like the Format, Harpers Bizarre and the Long Blondes. Classy black & white cover too!

Well this pretty much sums up 5 decades of excellent music. And, it is beatific, especially since it includes the best song EVER.
Great work Sammy.

As I step, from the shadows and emerge blinking and shivering into the light of 2007, I see that things will not be any easier for a "mix every now and again" chap like myself. Oh no, the "big guns" are still well to the fore, and a week has not yet passed. This is sammyg's first of the year. It is, of course a marvel, a rollicking collection of top tuneage and quirkiness. Superb cover art, expansive notes, intriguing title, that seems wonderfully unrelated and yet is. So fear not AOTM world, it all bodes well for another entertaining twelve months. Sammy's boots are shining and his spurs are spinning -- make that four coffins and a new pocket watch. The beat goes on.

I lurch from best song EVER to the next best song EVER - and I absolutely mean it each time. Stellar stuff here, young Sam. I think I'll go for the mix and the tracks. Greedy or wot?

My girlfriend kept turning over last night, saying "This is such a cool song! Is this your mix?" "No, still sammyg123, I'm afraid." I love it too, and where do I recognize that Feelies song from?

Great opener, great song to sandwich between two familiar favorites (9-11) - I'll have to check out some more Simple Kid - and more great picks with 5, 12, 16, 18-...really, everything from 18-on. This mix flows nicely, despite its variety. Great job, and thanks for the download.

Good calls with The Miracles, Dion and Teardrop Explodes. Oh yes, the Jarvis track is MY favourite record at the moment. Keep up the great work.

That Au Revoir Simone track is indeed the dogs wotsits. I'm liking their album a lot. Delighted to see Simple Kid make an appearance too. All in all - typically terrific.

Yeah, # 2, that's me this morning. Nice stuff, man.
