Comment:
I know how it looks, but I swear I didn't crib the title from any nebulous Flaming Lips motif. They weren't the first ones to consider space and animals together, so they needn't be the last. Although I do love them. The name of the mix just came to me earlier today while I was putting this together - I had about half of these songs, which vaguely reference one element or the other, so I started to run with a certain mood - mildly wacky, occasionally celebratory, but largely moody and pensive. In other words, indie pop ahoy! There really is no definite connection between the title and songs, other than that I love fantasizing about a space odyssey with me and a punch of cute/friendly animals. That's how lame I am. Oh, and forgive the use of Spiritualized - it's about as clever as using KC and the Sunshine Band for a party tape, but it fit the vibe I was going for, and I never get tired of putting the song on mixes, so why not. Finally, the last 2 songs are both quite long (Asobi is 7 minutes, Boredoms is 23), but I felt I needed a trippy atmospheric flare up and fade out. And "Seadrum" serves as both jungle music and space pop in a way, so it matched both my subjects! Good times. I imagine the hypnotic cacophony of both songs suggesting either re-entry into the earth's atmosphere or some kind of mind-blowing end-of-voyage transcendence, where we all ascend to some higher cosmic/spiritual plain...where we continue having adorable adventures, of course. Mopey adorable adventures. :)Feedback:
I dooooo love me some space pop.
this mix rocks socks.
Fantastic mix. One I'd give my right shoe to hear. And no party mix of mine doesn't include KC, so I forgive you Spiritualized! I know nothing of Volcano, I'm Still Excited!! but, what a great name :)
interesting concept. i dunno too much of the stuff here, but from what i know, it looks cool!
Lots of trippy fun here. Likin 3,4,7,9.18 and 19 esp.
