Comment:

Two things I generally hate are (1) theme mixes with nothing to bind the songs together but common words in the title, and (2) songs about rock & roll. So, hey, my apologies. Fortunately, there are enough songs out there with some variation of rock & roll in the title that I can weed out enough of the crappy ones that it actually turns out marginally interesting.

interesting for sure -- there's plenty of great stuff on here, no worries about that. the jamc, beatles & ramones really grab me to start, but the finishing VU, bowie & 'mats run really does it for me.

I hate to admit it but I actually love cheesey theme mixes. Lotsa great tunes on here, the closing three especially.

I'm with you on your first point (and it's precisely because I love a good theme mix - looking only for a particular word in the title is kind of lame and lazy), but yes, this does look pretty damn great.

I tend to hate these kind of mixes, as well (while acknowledging their "cute" or "clever" qualities), but this one is pretty great due to the overall quality of these tracks about rock 'n' roll.

No apologies needed, as far as I'm concerned! Like Rob said, the quality is great here - you made some very intelligent choices and did the "theme mix" thing well!

Face what you hate and master it, Grasshopper... From cover to explanation to tunage, you nailed it.

No Kiss. Is it a good or a bad thing. No apologies needed for either. Is Trio the Dolly Parton trio? That's the one I haven't heard and want to. Nice cover. This mix only needs a lot of beer and a very good moog.

Word links in mixes imho often makes a mix more eclectic & i never understand the need or desire to make a mix flow and the intensive labourings that it seems to inspire. The more diverse a mix, the better I like it. I'd much rather Shirley Temple follow Motorhead than a band that shares Motorheads sensibilities. Each to his own taste. My fave moments here are The Archies, The Sweet
and the never get tired of VU.

Hella fun! But one of my faves, King Missile's "Rock and Roll will never die" might be great here. That song is HI-larious!
