Comment:
2006, in my opinion, was a lackluster year for albums. That doesn't mean that no great albums were released, it just means I had to listen to about five times as many as the previous year to even find enough worthy albums to fill out my top 10 list. But 2006 was a very good year for singles -- so good, in fact, that I decided to expand my "For the Time Capsule" year-end mix to three volumes to accommodate the tracks.
This mix was begging for a bookend theme because of the absolutely massive "Crazy." After much deliberation, I chose The Twilight Singers' version as the "Crazy" cover because 1) I felt they changed the song more than any other artist or group did, and 2) The noise from the people in the club gives it a community feel. And if there's one song that was everybody's song in 2006, it was "Crazy."
Feedback:
Very nice stuff. That Lupe Fiasco track is growing on me. Nice to see a number of Hip-Hop selections, here, as well.
Indeed, the year of the single was 2006 and let's not lament it. A listen to this would be a fine time, I am sure.
