Comment:
This is the last installment of this series. I'm just a bit bored with the 2 hour format -- it's both cumbersome and taxing. I also think, as a series, it's been given short shrift, as I happen to think, if I do say so myself, it to be one of the most eclectic series going here. To each their own, of course, but the lack of feedback has been disproportionate to the effort, which has been a little disheartening. Creating converts to more diverse music is not my strength, it seems. That said, I wish I had the time to comment on more people's mixes, and it's rather shameful I don't! This I will endeavour to fix if and when I get the time. I think the same-old same-old gets far more attention here than those presenting new, interesting and often difficult and/or uncommon music.
C'est la vie. The upload will be available for those interested in this last kick at the can.
Feedback:
hello there, i've been away from AOTM for nearly a year, during which time you've posted some absolute belters. sorry i haven't been around to tell you. i'm downloading episode 11 at the moment. and i'd like to hear this one too.
You're more likely than not gonna be disappointed if you equate feedback received as representztive of the quality of a mix! Far better to just make em fer yer own enjoyment in my opinion. That said haven't got a clue what most of this is like so can't comment upon the quality of tunes enclosed. Mind you, I'm sufficiently intrigued as to investigate further.
Ditto Cliff, Edward. Most posters here don't know their...wellyou know that adage. Generally speaking, receiving numerous comments merely means you're popular with the rank & file, not necessarily a good mixer. But having traded with you several times, I know you do good work
This looks fairly cool & eclectic--I'm familiar with about 48% of it. My equipment's been gathering dust as of late and, that being the case, I don't find myself hanging around the site much. But I'm glad I stopped by today & caught this before it slips off the Top 100 & into mixological obscurity. Nice one!

Thanks for one more installment of this wonderful series. As you know, I'm a fan of it, and it has helped me discover some new artists. (I'd love to hear this last installment, too.) I feel similar about wanting to comment more--and more meaningfully--on people's mixes, and I often lack the time to do so. I've been downloading several mixes from other people that looked really interesting, but then I never got around to actually listening to them. So much music is available nowadays on AotM, and in other places, that I can no longer digest it all, as mch as I'd like to. That's exactly why I always listen to your mixes, though. I trust your musical taste and know that I will be rewarded when I listen to a mix of yours. I hope you will find another way to let me and like-minded mixers (I think there are more than just a few) know about your latest discoveries.
I haven't been around much lately either and so am coming to this series late, but it all looks splendid. Especially dig the Bjorkenheim through Dede stretch here. And as far as comments go, uhm, ditto G.A.B. and Cliff. Stop worrying about the quantity of commenters. Continue to engage with diverse mixes like this and you'll be sure to get enough devotees to justify your efforts.
Another great compilation!
I'm pretty much in agreement with what everyone else has said. I also agree with you that, yes, this series is definitely among the most eclectic going here - which is exactly why it's not always so easy to come up with a comment on the spot without having given it a proper listen first. Which is, unfortunately, not always possible (lack of time, broken internet connections, etc.). As for this installment, the little I know here looks spectacular, and I'd love to give it a listen in full.
First of all, this is dining music of the highest order. There is no doubt to that, and anyone who wants to argue against the point is gonna turn blue trying. Second of all, ignore the comments. The surprise they bring is happiness, that leaves disappointment as not being surprising. I don't know about y'all BUT I do this stuff for me first and usually stop there. I post because that is what I have done. And if someone out there salutes when I send something up the flagpole, well, that is peachy. But I stopped changing my mixes according to what I thought the majority of the public wanted and numbers early in my radio producing days and I came out the better for it. So, don't change a thing. Sheesh, do you think Kubrick got great remarks on his flicks when they came out? Do you have any idea how good Mulholland Drive really is? Who the hell has really even heard of Inland Empire yet? You are utter sophistication and have been for a long time now. I don't come here for Coca-cola. So don't start pitching it, please.
Unfortunately, AOTM tends to be reciprocal - you comment on mine I'll comment on yours'. You get back what you put in. Unless you've built up a relationship with other mixers, either through leaving comments or trading it is unlikely you'll receive many comments. Every mixer believes their mix deserves attention. I never know much on your mixes but when I see your name I try to drop in and comment. That you rarely comment on my mixes matters not. I am on dial-up so downloading is impossible and renders anything more than a respectful & admiring nod meaningless. Mixes that tend to receive the most comments are more often than not packed with stuff that are in the communal ether. If your sole reason for submitting mixes is to garner comments then p'raps you should create more mainstream mixes. That would be a pity & imho the site's loss. You're either making mixes for yourself or the site. Unless the site is paying you by the comment then I suggest you stop worrying 'bout the lack of feedback and continue.

nihil illigitum carburundum (don't let the bastards grind you down) . . . . this is a great looking mix (challenging, soul searching, etc) . . . keep it up . . . I know almost nothing, but I can guarantee that I will learn from this . . . .
Hmm, some interesting comments made below, in particular by Dom. Although I've had my fair share of +feedback from your good self. Count me as one of the fans of this series ( and your mixes in general ). Each one has been downloaded and sits proudly on my hard disc. And on more than one occasion whilst listening to music on shuffle I've heard a great track and thought " Man, I'll have to use that on a mix " only to discover it's from one of yours.
So, I say keep 'em coming, oh, and can I have a link to this? :)

Edward, as I've said in the past, I've found both the Gallimaufry and Jazz Moves series incredibly educational and enjoyable. When I lost Episodes 1 thought 6 in a disasterous hard drive failure, I vowed to transfer mix files to CD or DVD as soon as they are downloaded. I'm sorry to see this series end, but am hopeful that you'll continue to put together and share mixes with this level of thought. I'm looking forward to hearing this, as I'm only familiar with five of the artists. Thank you very much.
This looks really, really good, definitely my kind of mix, and I'm annoyed that I've been away for the past few months and missing the rest of the series! I'd love an upload of this, if it's still available.
Leif, this indeed looks incredibly cool. Maybe it's the serial aspect of the mix that wards off the accolades? Either way, love to hear it...
You are certainly right that the same-old same-old gets far more attention here than the uncommon, and I'm sure you aren't the only one who finds that a tad frustrating. But indeed, c'est la vie. Love the 5 -> 10 stretch here.
Count me among the many that love your mixes. It's hard for me to comment quickly though, because there's a learning curve. If you'd just load up your mixes with the Shins, Belle & Sebastian, and Squarepusher like everyone else, I'd know what to say. I loved alt-DJ'ing with you, because it gave me the opportunity to really listen and think about the songs you share, and I loved each and every one. I'd love an upload, and will try to even get around to commenting more profusely.
I'm with jonpoi, to the letter. I know exactly 1/6 of this and feel unable to comment on the entirety, however the presence of Amorphous here leads me to believe it a treat, especially as it sits right amidship and therefore you've built up to it and descend from it...now: go back and read jonpoi's comment. Please.
I think you'd get more comments if only people knew how to pronounce Gallimaufry. in any case, the diversity here does look wonderful and I'd love to hear it. links please?
Finally able to give this a listen today. it was at work, so I've put it on my ipod for a closer inspection at home while sipping champaign by the fireplace. but I must say it thrilled me at work right there in my chair. the Uakti is gorgeous, also loved Trio Rouge, Thai Folk Music, Tino Tracanna, Lotte Lenya (so good in The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone, one of my favorite films) and what a great Tom Waits song! like the Rocky franchize, this Gallimaufry series is due for a comeback after a little time off.
