Oops - forgot the comments. Just a trashpunkcountrypopblues extravaganza. Title from Joey Dee, of course. I recently unearthed a box of old 45's, including a few hundred that my dad sent my way. "Fuck you" is such a great pop song. I was thrilled to locate that record, scrathces and all - my old high school band played an atrocious version of it. The Crickets lead-off track is a brilliant post-Buddy song. Enjoy! Sorry to be so outta touch, kids. Hope you're well.
Nice. Really nice.
I didn't see any comments, and was left to wonder if this was another Sean Lally trashpunkcountrypopblues mix. Turns out I was right! As usual, your familiarity with this particular genre (genres? cross-genres?) puts me to shame, so I can't even pretend to know a lot of this, but it sure looks cool.
This looks great, Seanald. Apparently I missed you at Paul's yesterday by "seconds" (according to Paul). Was this mix the result of any purchases there? I love that Bruce Channel track, in particular (as did John Lennon).
diggin
Love this. Hazlewood, Bristols, Joey Dee to name but three. Poptastic :)
Looks fantastic!
What fun!
When I saw the title I thought hey I know that. I loved that Joey Dee song as a teenager and of course had the 45. The b side was Part 2 and really rocked. Saw them play that song in a store parking lot one time too. This mix looks like great fun.
I'm 50/50 as far as familiarity. So, half of this rocks! I expect the same of the other half. So, in total...this rocks.
Much I'm not familiar with here Sean but as ever it has that feel good air of fun surrounding it.
gotta love that adam and the ants song - great lookin mix, too
It's a nice list. Like a 1961 radio tracklist from a hip Eastern European station.
Looks excellent. That stretch Slim Harpo to The Bristols rocks with major amounts of rockingness, in a very rocking way. Thanks Sean!
Major amounts of rockingness, in a very rocking way? Jenergy wins this months comment award! As for this mix, it is most deserving of being labeled with the aforementioned comment!
Allow me to second Jenergy's comment that this rocks with major amounts of rockingness, in a very rocking way.
Good times, great oldies!!!
I love the looks of this so much I would pay $5 to hear it right this instant.
Love the Joey Dee and Ernie K Doe, (saw Ernie K in 2000 at Jazzfest in 'Nawlins .... if Little Richard was a mummer.....) and that Slim Harpo - Tom T Haal stretch is just brilliant.
Wow! Looks like I'm missing a swinging party! Always great to see a mix from you Daddy-O. So much cool old (Pipkins, Crickets) and new (Pipettes, Bicycles). Interesting that the Bristols cover that Dave Clark 5 song, and they're back to back. Did ya plan it that way?
You can never get enough thrashpunkcountrypopblues in your life and this is an outstanding example of the genre!
indeedy a whole lot of rockingness. Love that Johnny and the Hurricanes pick . . . . (in fact love all versions of that song).
Thrashpunkcountrypopblues rockingness? Don't think I can match that, so gonna go with a less complicated classic... Great Mix!
Funnily enough, the first word that sprang to mind was the same as the first in dejavu's comment! ;) This is breathtakingly cool, and top notch stuff from you as always. Love the Pipettes wedged in there before Adam & The Ants - cool Everly Bros/Hazlewood handoff too.
