Comment:
This mix was inspired by the last track which I believe I heard on wamsoldies.com (or RadioPhillyStyleOldies on live365.com) and thought, that's one I haven't heard for a very long time (and yet it is pretty darn good). The pic of Donna Summer is not just because I included one song by her here. She actually peaked in 1978-80 when she had four #1 hits plus a #2, #3, #4, & #5 (few individuals or groups have cranked out as many hits in such a short period of time and she may have been the most successful singing artist for that period).Click on the first song title to download the mix as a single mp3 file or on the second song title for a zip file of 20 mp3s.Oh, and track 17 may have been the last instrumental song to hit #1 on the charts.
Feedback:
I am not a great fan of this year but 4,11,16 & 19 are great songs and I love them to this day.
That was the summer after H.S. graduation for me and musically we played "In Through the Out Door" to death and tried to get all 6 album covers. 1, 4-6, 13-15 ansd 18-19 still do it for me. Thanks for the link,
Love the selections, Joe. Tying into Donna Summer, today I listened to "American Top 40 Classic" -- a local station airs original 70s era broadcasts with Casey Kasem doing his schtick. Tremendously fun! Today's show was from Feb. '78 and Kasem told the story of Casablanca Record's founder Neil Bogart being saved from bankruptcy by signing newcomer Donna Summer.
