Comment:
Dan Treacy - a brilliant and gifted (if also troubled) songwriter. Reducing this to one disc was very difficult. Honestly, "Mummy your not watching me" and "They could have been bigger than the Beatles" are pretty great, through and through. Still, I opted for a wider spanning mix. I got hipped to the TV P's in college by a bandmate - we were learning "14th floor" and I was hooked for life. The albums that come later, for me, get lost in production. Still, there's always great songs and painful sentiment underneath. This is the kind of work that you tell a lot about just by reading the song titles. Dig.Feedback:
This looks great. The only TVP I have are Privilege and a greatest hits collection. Can't say I listen to 'em often, but there are some great songs (though I'm surprised by the absence of "Salvador Dali's Garden Party," one of my favorite songs of the '90's (even had a bizarre video that got played on 120 Minutes). "I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives" alone guarantees the band some immortality; never quite figured out if it's brilliant or offensive, which keeps it interesting.
Looks like a great collection from a great band.
Fantastic collection of a very under appreciated band.
Looks as if I need to be further educated. My have piqued my interest.
...i've only the greatest hits - some of which i like but not enough to make further purchases...i'm surprised you haven't included anything by the Ed Ball offshoot The Times who I think had the edge! Great stuff Sean!
A band I've been meaning to listen to properly - this'll make a great field guide, thanks!
I'd love a copy of this 'un, Seanald, esp as I was your co-purchaser in the "Mummy Your Not Watching Me [sic]" ebay debacle years ago...
fantastic band, did you see the interview eith Dan Treacy on "this is our music" show ?

Interesting... I never heard of this band before.
However - Thanks for your comment on my mix. Also, I note your mention of The
Zombies, my favourite band while at school, because I wanted to be different
from everyone else. I saw them live at Maidstone Corn Exchange back in the
60's, dragging all my pals along. The crowd was tiny due to poor publicity, and
the fact the Zombies were only just breaking through, but despite the small
turnout they put on a great show, and we got to sit and chat with the lads in
the bar during the interval. Happy days
