My latest mix, and one that I love, but of course I'm probably biased! This is most definitely the Soundtrack to my February 2007, which could very well be the the most exciting month of my life! The title of the mix amuses me but of course will baffle every one else, and I'm not usually a Man of Mystery.The last 5 tracks here are dedicated to my better half, as she enters the last of her `Nine Months'. We're still no wiser re: the Blue or Pink question, although if ends up being the latter one name featured here is in the frame.

The irony. Just 8 hours after posting this mix, my partner was diagnosed with MS. She'd been unwell for a few months but it was a bombshell we weren't expecting. Thanks to everyone for their support, we'll get through this. Sam.

Reginag123 eh? nice one mate. The smart money is still on pink btw. Any road this is a friggin marvel. The opening pair, the Apples / Spinto, and Rats / Lekman as well as the closing pair all leap out at me straight away. I simply must hear this puppy. Now go get some sleep while you can sonny jim.

Sam, I'm so sorry to hear about your partners' MS diagnosis, what a complete shock! Be strong my friend. My daughter's middle name is Grace, so I'm going with that pick. Hoping it's a straight forward birth Sam, try to stockpile some sleep you'll need it. Haven't forgotten the mix (which is as ever superb) it's just that upon reflection there's more important matters at hand eh! Thinking of you & yours, all the very best, take care.

really liked the Pernice Brothers track, and the Jens Lekman to MIKA, with the latter possibly being my favorite one here. a nice piece of work, Sam.
MS can be a bitch, but read up on it so you know what to expect. Expect the worst, but work for the best. I know a lot of people that have it, and while it is a pain in the ass, they don't let it stop them. I am sure that you will be there for her to help any way you can.As for the child, congrats!! I was present for each of our three births, and would strongly suggest keeping some energy bars in your pocket at all times. While she won't be able to eat them (and may not want to, anyway), you, my friend, will need them. I would also suggest a container of something like a lotion to apply while rubbing her back. My wife tells me/told me that it really helped when I massaged her during labor. (Keep some kind of painkiller near by for yourself afterwards... my hands cramped for like 3 days after. Small price to pay...)Oh... and cool, cool mix.

Hi Guys, cheers to those who left comments and sent emails, they are much appreciated. Vicki has been unwell for about four months, in & out of hospital. And although her symptoms were close to MS we were initially assured it wasn't, until the news was broke to her yesterday. It's been a torrid pregnancy for her, to say the least and strange to think she was fine 6 months back. She can begin taking proper medication once baby is born and by all accounts should lead her life as before, if maybe a tad slower. We've learnt a lot about it in the past 24 hours, how it is twice as common in women than men, how women 'suffer' far less with it than men etc etc Lots of reassurance..
I posted a comment on my mix letting people know, not for 'sympathy comments' but cos I didn't think any more 'congrats' comments were appropriate at the time. But as she'll be in hopspital for at least the next 4 weeks and I've been granted leave from work I'm going to have far more time sat on my PC so maybe the 'My last mix' comment was probably not an over-reacton but maybe innacurate. Thanks again.

Of course you will mix on, Sammy. How could you not -- it's obviously within you, and must out. The standard of your creations attests this fact -- you have no choice.Your mixes are always full of quirky joy and excellent tunes; they mirror your love of the music. This mix is all over the place and all the more fun for that. "Banana Republic" indeed.And so this gloomy future for you and your love may be seen through that tiny window in the dark room; and yet there are many windows, many pleasant views, many possibilities. Your mixes are fine examples of this. Mix on, Sammy. Love on, Sammy. None of us know what will be, but there are still plenty of good times for the having. I hear it in the songs, I feel it in the warmth of all those who have commented and empathise and care about our human condition. And should you need us, Sammy, just say the word.
