Comment:

This is one of those works in progress I've been returning to every now and again (my second draft was The Most Beautiful Sound Next To Silence: Eicher Thing) -- adding, subtracting, reordering, etc. I've been an ECM fan for quite a while, but being a collector is an expensive business, as the label's CD prices are dearer than most. As I acquire more, this mix will likely change again ... and again. This mix is representative of the ECM jazz / world arm vs. its classical side, which I'd explore, too, if funds were unlimited. One must prioritize, after all.

I'm quite proud of this as representative of both the label (although certainly not wholly representative -- the catalogue is huge!) and a certain mellow, contemplative vibe (the Art Ensemble of Chicago, for an example, didn't make the cut because of the mood I was going for). If you're not overly familiar with ECM, I hope this mix turns you into a convert.

im not so keen on the ECM stuff I have which isn't anything approaching your collection - I do like Jan Garbarek a lot especially the arlier stuff like Listen to The Grey Ghost (title might be innacurate) - I seem to remember that being a soundtrack to accompany foreplay!

Another great sampler of this expensive and relatively sampler free label. They should give you a job! ;)
