Comment:
70s next, then back to the 50s and 40s.(I added, last minute, "The Opening/Interlude: Shovels/The Survivors/Grave Train" from Gary Burton's 1967 jazz opera, A Genuine Tong Funeral, hence there being 16 tracks in the latter link.
1-15 / 16-30 / 31-45 / 46-61
Feedback:
Holt crap, this is amazing. Highlighrs for me include the Mobley, Mulligan, Coleman, Peterson, Monk, Rollins, Ellington, Mingus, Gordon, Ayler, Hubbard, Kirk, Tyner, Coltrane, Mann and Miles. I'm guessing this doesn't fit on two CDr's. Well done!
wow! this is quite a collection. Not a lot that I'm familliar with but what I know is great. Ray Barretto, Coltrane, Gabor Szabo and more. Cool
Superb sweeping overview - and all the better for seeing them in chronological order.
This is really, really, really great. Damn. My most sincere props to you.
this is incredible -- highlights all across the board. the monk, mingus, duke, coltrane, & miles tracks jump out at me, & even what i don't know is making my mouth water...
i'm glad you posted this. i'm just now making my foray into 60s jazz... started with monk and oliver nelson, so i hope this can be some kind of guide for future explorations.
Hot Damn! I'm blown away.
I too am blown away. Can't wait for the other Decades anthologies. A real labour of love, I'm sure. And many thanks for the numerous links...
Wow. Wow. Sorry, that's the most coherent comment you're going to get from me for now. Also: wow.
